Federation Partnerships: Building Shared Society Together
Why Federations Partner with Friends of Givat Haviva
Jewish Federations across North America have long supported programs that promote pluralism, civil society, and inclusion in Israel. Friends of Givat Haviva is proud to partner with Federations to advance these goals.
Our partnerships are rooted in shared values and a shared vision: strengthening Israel from within by investing in equality, understanding, and long-term cohesion. Together, we create a measurable impact and tell a compelling story of hope and unity to our communities back home.
“Programs that further the integration of Arab citizens into Israeli society, deepen ties with fellow Jewish citizens as well as with the government, are essential to the country’s well-being.”
— David Heller, Chair, Friends of Givat Haviva

Why This Work Matters Now
As Israel continues to face profound internal and external challenges, Givat Haviva’s work promoting Jewish-Arab partnership is more essential than ever. Through bilingual education, joint municipal initiatives, youth leadership programs, and community engagement efforts, we bridge the divides that threaten the social fabric of the state.
Federation support allows us to:
- Empower the next generation of Jewish and Arab changemakers
- Support regional cooperation across Jewish and Arab municipalities
- Foster bilingualism and coexistence through integrated schools
- Promote civic equality and reduce extremism through engagement and education
Your investment in shared society is an investment in Israel’s democratic resilience.

Spotlight: Partnership in Action
>In partnership with Combined Jewish Philanthropies (CJP), Givat Haviva has advanced shared society efforts through strategic support for both long-term education initiatives and urgent crisis response. CJP has provided meaningful backing for the Educational Interventions in Academia Program, which supports Jewish and Arab university students in Israel through additional training for university staff. Faculty and staff will acquire skills to navigate today’s delicate, highly tense reality through relevant lectures and activities. Fostering greater inclusion and success in higher education.
In the wake of October 7, CJP also extended emergency support for Givat Haviva’s Emergency Housing Initiative, which offered safe housing and holistic care for displaced Israeli families affected by the conflict. These partnerships demonstrate CJP’s commitment to strengthening a resilient, inclusive Israeli society in both calm and crisis
Thought Leadership: The Call for Shared Society
In his compelling op-ed for the Jewish News Syndicate, David Heller, Chair of Friends of Givat Haviva, calls on American Jewish communities to elevate support for civil society organizations in Israel—particularly those working to bridge the divide between Jewish and Arab citizens.
“If American Jews want a thriving, democratic Israel, they must look beyond politics and prioritize building an inclusive society on the ground.”
