Mohammad Darawshe

Board Member, Director of Strategy- Givat Haviva

Mohammad Darawshe is considered a leading expert on Jewish-Arab relations. Since 2014, he is the Director of Strategy at the Givat Haviva center for Shared Society (as well as 2000-2005).  He served on the strategic planning team of the Authority for Economic Development of Arab Sector. He is a faculty member at The Hartman Institute in Jerusalem, and a fellow at the Robert Bosch Academy in Berlin, specializing in National minorities.  Currently working on his PhD in peace education strategies at Al-Najah National University. 

In the fall of 2024, he is a visiting scholar at the Illinois Global Institute at the State University of Illinois. In 2019 he was a visiting scholar at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. 

He previously served as Co-Director of The Abraham Fund Initiatives (2005-13), and was elected Council-member of his home-town Iksal (2008-2013), as well as Elections Campaign Manager for the Democratic Arab Party/United Arab List (1992-2000). In 2009 he served as a member of The National Committee which drafted Coexistence Education policy. From 1986 to 1992, he was Program Director at Legacy International in Washington D.C. after having served as Parliamentary Assistant in the Knesset from 1984 to 1986.

Mohammad Darawshe presented lectures and papers in many universities and at the European parliament, NATO Defense College, The World Economic Forum, Club de Madrid, US Congress, Herzlia Conference. He received a number of honors such as the Peacemakers Award of the Catholic Theological Union and the Peace and Security Award of the World Association of NGOs. He is currently a Member of several Executive Boards including that of the One-Voice movement.

He holds a Master’s degree in Conflict and Peace Studies from Haifa University as well as Bachelor’s degrees in Political Science from Emek Yizrael College and in English & Political Science from Hebrew University.
