Artists in Residence program at Duke University

This program is a collaboration between Duke University located in Durham, North Carolina in the USA and Givat Haviva and the Joint Art Center in Givat Haviva. A unique opportunity to collaborate to bring some of the experience and work of the participants to the prestigious Duke University campus in the coming academic year, to create in a different space, to meet with Artists and communities from around the world.

In the coming academic year, 5 artists who graduated from the AIR Givat Haviva residency program will be sent to the 'Duke as Artists in Residence' program at Duke University in the USA for 6 weeks on 01/20/2025-03/07/2025.

During this period, the participants will bring and present their experience in the residency program they went through together in the artistic aspect, the social aspect and the Jewish-Arab encounter; Create conversation circles with students and community meetings to share with the community there in the creative process of their work, their personal experiences, the complexities of the area and their impact on them.

 Participants will be allowed time to develop personal work, continue to work on their artwork in collaboration with Duke students and local artists during the stay.

 As part of the program in collaboration with Duke's well-known Nasher Museum of Art, the artists will send their works, and they will be exhibited throughout the period in one of the university's buildings. At the end of the period, participants will receive a certificate of participation from Duke University.

The delegation will include three Arab participants and two Jewish participants who has been chosen by the staff of the Joint Center for Art and Givat Haviva. One of the participants will be the head of the delegation and will be in contact with the staff members of Givat Haviva and Duke university.

The trip and the program will include - accommodation in the student dormitories of Duke University, guidance and accompaniment by the staff of the museum and the art school of the university.
